My ongoing exploration of Zen.
As Life stills when depicted in memory,
the mind is free to let the body create.
Inspired by the Ensō Circle
記憶裡的世界是凝滯的,
卻因而釋放了身心的創作自由,
円相 (Ensō Circle) 的啟悟悠然而生。
Something about ink on paper feels very quiet. My brain slows to a hum as my hand makes marks, guided by the breath filtering through my lungs. Whether it be firm blots or featherlight strokes, the paper gives almost no resistance at all, unlike the rough tooth of a canvas. For a short while, I pause my fight with the current and simply enjoy wading through calm waters.
Ink on Stretched Paper
Produced in response to John Agard’s The Embodiment, selected from Borderlines: Poems on Migration. Exhibited in Milk and Honey Exhibition at the Brixton Tate Library.
Ink on Rice Paper and Pressed Fibre over Wood
14.8 x 21 cm
Oil, Fibre Mesh, and Rice Paper on Wood
15 x 15 cm
A time-based piece. As the oil evaporates, the picture changes. Nothing is constant. Nothing is everything, everything is nothing.
